Student loans have been a popular way to pay for college, but that popularity is waning as a whole generation has entered the workforce already in debt. Remember that your goal is to improve your financial situation, not add more strain.
The solution is, look for scholarships. By spending some time and doing some homework, you may be able to find enough scholarship and grant money to eliminate or greatly reduce the need for student loans. This can make going back to school feasible.

The FAFSA Grant notice will also list any Federal student loan programs that you can take advantage of. While these may be necessary, it’s best to look to private sector scholarships before signing up for student loans, which will have to be paid back, eventually.
Your school will have a financial aid office. Part of their job is to advise you regarding any financial aid opportunities that you can take advantage of. Make an appointment to talk to a counselor and see what is out there. And go back at least once a year to see if there is anything new that you can take advantage of.
